We Care America's mission is to unify, equip and enable faith-based organizations
to serve more effectively the disadvantaged in their communities. Our object is to
assist with providing resources to help these ministries expand and grow.
Message from We Care America
"When I began We Care America (WCA), I was told, "Dave, don't mix religion with politics." Yet, the Bible clearly declares that the government is under the authority of God and that the Church is God's agent for holding government accountable to His moral law (Romans 13:1). However, when the Church buys the popular misconception of "separation of church and state," we vacate the public square and other groups clothe it, unchallenged, with values that are often contrary to Christian convictions about family, life, and faith in God. (Remember that the Constitution requires our government to be neutral toward religion in the public sphere, not against it.)"
As this chasm between the government's social agencies and the church widens the government, not the church becomes the most influential factor in people's lives. The government does a good job at governance, but is far less effective as caregivers and disciplers. It's too impersonal and purposely non-religious to address the systemic and spiritual needs of its citizens. God knew this when He mandated the Church to care for the least, the last and the lost (See Isaiah 58:6 & 7).
Although We Care America is strictly non-partisan, I believe God has brought President Bush to the White House to remind the church and the government of their distinctive missions and to cooperate in addressing our nations social and Spiritual ills. God is raising up We Care America to be His instrument in assisting with this revolution of compassion and renewal.
Representative J.C. Watts said concerning We Care America,
"You have proved to be a beacon of light for faith and community based organizations striving to serve their fellow human beings and keep this nation strong and faithful."
The strategy for We Care America is four-fold:
Call Christians to pray for our leaders. According to II Chronicles 7:14 this is the key to God "healing our land." WCA has begun a PrayerCorp that will soon be composed of thousands of Christians interceding daily for our President and his staff, members of Congress, the National Agencies, and State and local governments. In addition, the PrayerCorp will intercede daily for the Church to be effective in compassion and faith based ministry (I Timothy 2:1).
Influence decision-making that affects millions of people. Recently, I met with a senior advisor to President Bush to discuss ways the White House can be more effective at working with the faith community. President Bush presented his budget to Congress that included a letter from WCA to him asking for Congress to allocate funds for faith-based organizations. Influential Presidential and Agency Commissions are now being vacated and WCA is trying to fill these slots with men and women of God.
Help faith-based organizations gain access to government resources. The Founder of the Salvation Army, William Booth said, "The only thing wrong with tainted money is that there is not taint enough." Let's not forget, this is not the government's money, this is God's money and we have a responsibility to make sure it is used wisely.
Only 4% of the government's domestic spending is actually administered by government employees. A vast network of private and public agencies and organizations administer the other 96%. Of this 96% the faith community gets the crumbs of the crumbs.
Think about it, our government has degenerated from faith in God to discriminating against the church and organizations because of their faith. When government is failing at combating drugs and programs such as Teen Challenge have a success rate exceeding 80%, yet they cannot get a dime of God's money--we need to speak up!
Develop a national coalition of faith based ministries and organizations. By partnering with National, State and local ministries that have a passion for compassion, We Care America will have a strong alliance that will be able to increase leverage, access resources, and help those most in need around the country.
That's the vision WCA is committed to: Building Capacity on the ground to serve the poor and needy through grassroots, faith based ministry.
This is not about politics! This is not about being a Republican, Democrat, Conservative or Liberal. This is about rewarding and empowering the organizations that are the most effective at helping people. Someone once said, "It takes a village to raise a child." There is some truth to that statement because the government, social, corporate and faith based sectors need to work together. However, God has called the Church to lead by serving the village!
We Care America is desperately needed to stand in the gap for such a time as this. People of faith are needed to pray and financially support this mission just as the early church sent out and supported the Apostle Paul's mission to Rome, which was the power center of his day (Romans 1:11-13). Can I ask you to stand with us for our nation and its Capitol by committing to pray and give? Please complete the enclosed pledge card and return it in the reply envelope. We will send you reports about how God is using your prayers and support of We Care America to impact our nation, and help those in need. Thank you for making a difference!
In His service (IS 58),
